ELECSYS ANNOUNCES NEW AC INTERFERENCE MONITORING UNIT

Olathe, Kansas (March 25th, 2019) – Elecsys Corporation, a provider of industrial machine to machine (M2M) communication technology solutions, data acquisition systems, and custom electronic equipment for critical industrial applications, announced today at the NACE Corrosion 2019 trade show the TRACKER CR, a new and comprehensive unit to measure values to evaluate corrosion risk due to AC interference.

The Tracker CR is the latest in Elecsys’ Watchdog Tracker line of products, designed for interference monitoring at test stations in high AC interference areas.  As with the current line of Tracker devices, the Tracker CR will measure DC “On” and “Off” voltage potentials using a cathodic coupon, AC voltage potential to ground, DC current density, AC current density, and AC drain current to ground. The Tracker CR system adds a custom-designed Electrical Resistance (ER) probe to the test station probe assembly, enabling it to measure metal loss in “mils” from the exposed probe element bonded to the pipeline.  This metal loss value, along with the standard measurements, is recorded in the Tracker CR internal data storage.  Sample values are periodically transmitted to the Elecsys Connect web interface, providing users with valuable data to evaluate the corrosion risk due to AC interference and the effectiveness of AC mitigation efforts applied.

AC interference and DC stray current can have adverse impacts on a pipeline’s integrity if not properly monitored and mitigated.  The Tracker CR is designed to be an all-in-one solution to measure interference current and corrosion rate.  It includes built-in communication and data logging functionality to assist high-integrity pipeline management while also helping to avoid the catastrophic structural damage that nearby electrical fields can cause.

“Customers have demanded a high performance monitor system that incorporates our best-of-class Tracker AC measurements along with the ability to monitor corrosion rate using an ER probe,” said Ryan Krase, Director of Sales, Oil and Gas, Elecsys Corporation.  “With the Tracker CR, we’re accommodating customer’s needs through the development of a product that provides compliance data required by the current industry standards.”

The Tracker CR includes a transmitter for ER probes, a data logger, an internal modem, and inputs necessary to be a cost-effective and comprehensive monitor of corrosion risk and hazardous voltage levels due to AC interference.  As a technology leader in the Industrial Internet of Things, Elecsys, a subsidiary of Lindsay Corporation, continuously makes advancements that help to improve the business processes of its customers.  For more information on the Tracker CR, please contact Elecsys sales – 913-647-0158 / sales@watchdogcp.com
